The Bird Alliance of Oregon

If you are a birder or someone who just loves birds, learning how to paint birds in watercolor is a wonderful way to understand more about these lovely little creatures. These classes are meant to enhance your experience as a naturalist or an artist. Ronna offers a warm welcome to anyone open to learning the basics of watercolor and the details of birds.

Classes are offered both in person at the Portland Bird Alliance of Oregon and online. All online classes are recorded and will be available after the live class.

Ronna Fujisawa has been teaching bird watercolor at The Bird Alliance since 2022. She strives to build an atmosphere of learning by encouraging students to take risks, showing support and encouragement, and working alongside the class to assist in the understanding of watercolor painting.

The Landscape and Beyond: Basic watercolor class (beginner and intermediate)

Course Description:

This watercolor painting class is a wonderful opportunity to explore basic techniques, experiment with color, amount of water, mark making and how to create luminous watercolor paintings. Each week the subject matter in these classes will include primarily landscapes still life or birds. Open to beginners and intermediate students .

Materials List: Will be provided after registration. Recommended supplies for this class are fine watercolor paints, good quality watercolor paper such as Arches, and a variety of watercolor brushes.

Ronna Fujisawa is a long-time watercolor/mixed media painter, educator, and MFA graduate in Applied Craft and Design/OCAC and PNCA.

CLASS REGULATIONS for all in-person and online CLASSES

-All students will receive a recording of the online class if you attend the class.

If you can not attend the live class and just want the recording of the class, requested recording of the class will be sent out shortly after scheduled time of the class.

-Class purchases are good for any upcoming class or recording of upcoming class.

-Recordings of past classes are available, and are the same price as a live class.

-Please note that there will no refunds if student has registered for a class and does not show up.

-There is no refund if student has registered for a course of multiple classes and the course has started.

-Cancelations made 7 days in advance will receive 100%refund

-Cancellations made within 48 hours may receive credit used towards a future class. No refund.

-Multiple class purchase can be used for the current year on any upcoming classes in that category.
