Birds are a wonderful source of inspiration and a joy to paint in watercolor. Come join Ronna, an experienced watercolor painter, art educator, and bird enthusiast, living in Portland, Oregon. Enjoy the company of other beginner and intermediate watercolor painters in this fun and informative online class. Each class will focus on a specific bird where you will learn basic watercolor techniques.
*A recording of the class to will be sent to everyone registered, which is available to watch for one week after live class.
*The reference photo and colors for this class will be send out to you a day or two before the class start, as well as materials needed and specific colors.

SUPPLY LIST for BIRD WATERCOLOR CLASSES
Bring what you already have and what you think you’ll need. Only buy what you think you’ll use again. (available at Blick or art supply store). Say you are a student for 10% discount
Please have all your supplies ready before the class starts.
Bring your standard materials...
sketching pencils white eraser
Brushes- #1 or 2, #6, #8, #10 #12 round brushes, 1”oval wash wash brush, OR your favorite soft brushes. I like the Princeton Aqua Elite line of brushes. (I like the oval wash or cats tongue brush because it has a pointy tip and can cover a bigger area. )
Paper- 140lb Arches Cold Press watercolor paper or similar. You will get best results with good watercolor paper. About 9x12” pad of paper works great.
Watercolor paint in tubes with palette or pan watercolors (see below for suggested color) Your palettes should have a large mixing area and lid.
Titanium white watercolor tube or gouache
paper towels
gator board or from core or masonite (something to tape paper to)
water pot — a yogurt container works
blue or white artist tape
Notebook or sketchbook of watercolor paper for paint swatches, notes, sketches
Graphite carbon copy paper (available on Amazon: My Art Scape Graphite Transfer paper pack of 20)
I use Daniel Smith watercolor tubes. Here are some colors I use often for bird painting:Cobalt blue, Ultramarine Blue, Rose Madder Genuine or Alizarin Crimson, Aureolin Yellow, Naples Yellow (Schminke Brand), Sap Green, Van Dyke Brown or Sepia, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Transparent Pyrrol Orange, Paynes Gray, Black, White
