Welcome to this one-day painting workshop at my home in Northwest Portland. We’ll spend the day outdoors, surrounded by the serene woods of Forest Park, painting from life and connecting with nature. I’ll demonstrate the basics of plein air watercolor painting and provide various exercises to help you feel comfortable painting outdoors.
The 2-acre property features some simple sitting areas where students can immerse themselves in the woods and draw inspiration from the stunning surroundings.
- If you have a watercolor easel, bring it along.
- If you prefer, bring your own folding chair.
- Be prepared to walk on uneven ground. Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes, and don’t forget a hat with a brim!
- Supplies are not included. I’ll send out a list of required supplies upon registration. Supply sets are available to purchase for $25: including a small palette of fine watercolor paint for you to keep, a brush, various fine watercolor paper, a board to tape your paper on, tape, pencil, paper towels, cup for water. PLEASE INQUIRE DIRECTLY TO RONNA to reserve your paint set!
- Snacks and beverages will be served, including wine in the late afternoon for those who wish to indulge.
- Feel free to bring something to share with your fellow participants.
