MEDITATIVE WASHES: Watercolor Landscape Basics ONLINE class

*Subject matter for this course is in conjunction to my Thursday IN-PERSON Plein Air class Meditative Washes in the Landscape taking place at Skyline Memorial Garden, Portland, OR. It’s ok to just take the Online class.

Skill Level: Beginning and intermediate students

Learn how to paint the landscape from photographs of the incredible views of the Coastal Range from NW Portland cemetery Skyline Memorial Gardens. Reference photos will be sent to you in advance.

Creating luminous and glowing watercolor paintings is a fun and challenging process! Join this basic watercolor class to learn how to layer washes, enlightening glazes, mixing neutral colors, and subtle transitions that make watercolor so appealing.

In this class, students will learn various techniques to find a natural rhythm with the watercolor and or mixed media, how to create movement through the landscape with loose and transparent washes.

Subject matter will be based on scenes from the gardens, up close and distant, with an intention of painitng abstractly and loosely from nature. Develop a deeper connection to nature and the self through painting, experience a meditative process and you unlock your creativity and your mind.

Let go of your expectations of the outcome, and learn to enjoy the creative process. Whether you are a beginner or experienced painter, the class is welcoming and will give you the space to escape the chaos of daily life. Come join me as we enter a space of stillness and creativity, where painting becomes a form of meditation.
